![]() Within the last 10 hours, we have had a Pine Nut Hummus from Marietta and also a Beetroot Hummus from Jude posted to Planet Vegetaria - both obviously look delish! Do you make your own, or do you buy from the shop? And if you buy from a shop, which is your favourite? And if you make your own, what is your favourite recipe? Of course, it's not just about chickpeas; fresh butter beans, cooked tinned beans, lentils and more are used in different countries to make this ever popular favourite... of most.

I usually buy hummus. I have made a black bean version and a couple of broad bean versions but the best hummus I've had was from a local Mediterranean restaurant; it was truly memorable. I usually just have hummus for parties but would like to start using more for everyday meals. I like the idea of using lentils; will have to try that one!

Sandy. The area that we live in has become increasingly Persian, with many Persian restaurants and supermarkets opening up in the past 5 years. In this way, we have been able to buy really good hummus directly from a number of the shops. We also used to make our own from scratch; and when we had parties would have a huge bowl of hummus and crudites. I'm intrigued by the black bean hummus, so if you do have a recipe please share. Somebody else has also promised me a lentil recipe which I will share once we've received it.
